The 3:2 aspect ratio is the standard format for DSLR cameras and most 35mm film photography. It is also the ratio used by standard photo prints (4x6, 6x9, 8x12 inches). Cropping to 3:2 prepares your images perfectly for printing or maintains the native camera format.
This ratio is slightly wider than 4:3, giving a more cinematic feel while remaining practical for both portrait and landscape compositions. Many photographers consider 3:2 the ideal balance between width and height.
With ImgTools, upload your image, select the Crop tab, choose the 3:2 preset, and drag to select your area. Common 3:2 dimensions include 1200x800, 1500x1000, 1800x1200, and 3000x2000.
After cropping, resize to your target dimensions for the specific use case. For standard 4x6 prints at 300 DPI, resize to 1800x1200.
