The 4:5 aspect ratio is the tallest format allowed for Instagram feed posts. At this ratio, your image takes up the maximum vertical space in the Instagram feed, increasing visibility and engagement compared to square or landscape posts.
When you crop to 4:5, the resulting image is slightly taller than it is wide. At Instagram's standard width of 1080 pixels, this produces a 1080x1350 image. This 25% additional height over square posts means more screen real estate and more engagement.
With ImgTools, upload your image, select the Crop tab, and choose the 4:5 preset. Position your crop to include the most compelling part of your image. For portraits, center the subject's face in the upper third. For products, center the item with some negative space around it.
After cropping to 4:5, switch to the Resize tab and set the width to 1080 pixels. The height will automatically calculate to 1350 pixels.
All processing happens locally in your browser. Your Instagram content stays private.
