The 9:16 aspect ratio is the universal vertical format for Stories, Reels, TikTok, and Shorts content. Cropping to this exact ratio ensures your content fills the entire phone screen without any black bars or letterboxing.
This ratio is the inverse of the 16:9 widescreen format. It creates a tall, narrow image that matches the way people hold their phones vertically. The standard dimensions are 1080x1920 pixels.
With ImgTools, upload your image, select the Crop tab, and choose the 9:16 preset. For horizontal source images, you will need to select the most impactful vertical slice. For already-vertical images, the 9:16 crop fine-tunes the exact portion displayed.
After cropping, resize to 1080x1920 in the Resize tab for the standard Stories resolution. This dimension works across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and Snapchat.
All processing happens locally in your browser.
