The optimal Pinterest pin size is 1000x1500 pixels with a 2:3 aspect ratio. Pinterest strongly favors vertical content, and the 2:3 ratio provides the best balance of visibility and compliance with Pinterest's aspect ratio limits.

Pinterest displays pins in a masonry grid layout where taller pins take up more space and attract more attention. The 2:3 ratio is the tallest standard ratio that Pinterest fully supports without truncating. Pins taller than a 1:2.1 ratio may be cut off in the feed.

When you resize to 1000x1500, your pin takes up significantly more visual space than square or landscape images in the Pinterest feed. This increased visibility directly correlates with higher impression and click-through rates.

To create a Pinterest pin with ImgTools, upload your image, use the Crop tab with the 2:3 preset to select the best vertical section, then resize to 1000x1500 in the Resize tab. For product images, center the product vertically and leave space for text overlays at the top or bottom.

For Pinterest Idea Pins (multi-page story format), use 1080x1920 instead, which matches the 9:16 vertical video format. Board cover images should be at least 222x150 pixels.

Save pins as JPEG at 80-85% quality for photographs or PNG for graphic designs with text. Pinterest compresses images further during upload, so starting with good quality is important. Keep original files under 20 MB.

ImgTools processes everything locally in your browser. Your Pinterest content stays on your device until you are ready to pin it.
