Transparent backgrounds are essential for logos, icons, product images on colored backgrounds, and any image that needs to overlay other content. PNG and WebP formats support full alpha transparency, while JPEG does not.
To create a transparent background, you need an image editor that supports alpha channel editing (like GIMP or Photoshop). ImgTools focuses on format conversion, compression, and resizing rather than background removal.
However, ImgTools can help preserve transparency. If you have a PNG with a transparent background, converting to WebP maintains the transparency with a smaller file size. Converting to JPEG will replace transparent areas with a solid color.
When working with transparent images, always save as PNG or WebP to preserve the alpha channel. JPEG does not support transparency and should be avoided.
All processing in ImgTools happens locally in your browser.
