Converting JPEG to PNG preserves the current state of the image in a lossless format. Once converted, further edits and saves will not degrade the image quality since PNG uses lossless compression.
This conversion is useful when you need to edit a JPEG image multiple times without accumulating compression artifacts. Each time you save a JPEG, quality degrades slightly. By converting to PNG first, you can edit freely and only convert back to JPEG as the final step.
With ImgTools, upload your JPEG image, switch to the Convert tab, and select PNG. The conversion preserves the exact pixel data from the JPEG. Note that PNG files will be significantly larger than the original JPEG since PNG compression is less efficient for photographic content.
Common use cases include preparing images for editing workflows, creating archival copies of JPEG originals, and generating images that need transparency (though you would need to add transparency separately in an editor after conversion).
