Converting PNG to JPEG is the fastest way to reduce file size for photographic images. A typical photograph saved as PNG might be 3-5MB, while the same image as JPEG at 85% quality is only 200-400KB, a reduction of 90% or more.
The tradeoff is that JPEG uses lossy compression and does not support transparency. If your PNG contains transparency, the transparent areas will be filled with white (or black) when converted to JPEG. For photographs and images without transparency, this conversion is highly recommended.
With ImgTools, upload your PNG image, go to the Convert tab, select JPEG, and optionally adjust the quality slider. Higher quality settings produce larger but sharper files. For most purposes, 80-85% quality provides an excellent balance.
This conversion is ideal for photographs originally saved as PNG, screenshots that do not need transparency, and any large PNG that needs to be shared via email or uploaded to platforms with file size limits.
