Printing requires higher resolution images than screen display. The standard for professional printing is 300 DPI (dots per inch), meaning you need 300 pixels for every inch of printed output.

To calculate the pixel dimensions needed for any print size, multiply the print dimensions by 300. For example, a 4x6 inch print needs 1200x1800 pixels, an 8x10 needs 2400x3000 pixels, and a 16x20 needs 4800x6000 pixels.

With ImgTools, resize your images to the exact pixel dimensions needed for your print size. Always start with the highest resolution source available, as upscaling for print produces inferior results.

For home inkjet printing, 200 DPI is often acceptable and reduces file sizes. For professional offset printing and photo labs, always use 300 DPI or higher.

Save as PNG for lossless quality or JPEG at 95% quality. TIFF format is preferred by many print shops but is not supported by browser-based tools.
